Household Finance

What this is

I built and run this application for my own use, to track and forecast my household’s finances in one place. It has a single operator and no other users or customers. It is not sold, licensed, or distributed, and it runs entirely on private infrastructure under my own control.

What data it accesses

Through Plaid, the application requests read-only access to two things — account balances and transaction history — for my own financial accounts. That data is used solely for personal budgeting and cash-flow forecasting.

It does not request, and is prevented at the credential level from using, any payment, transfer, or fund-movement capability. It cannot move money.

Privacy & data

• Data is used only by me, and only for my own accounts.
• It is stored on private, self-hosted infrastructure under my sole control, with encrypted offsite backups.
• Account login credentials are never seen or stored by the application — authentication is handled by Plaid and the institution. The access token is held in the operating system’s secure keystore.
• No data is sold, shared with third parties, used for advertising, or processed for analytics.
• I can revoke the application’s access at any time through the institution or Plaid, and delete the stored data at any time.
